Description
GWT VersaBox Design
Box blades are a common 3-Point attachment for moving soil. The VersaBox operates as a Box Blade with the tailgate in the closed position. There is a cutting edge on both the front and back of the tailgate, for forward and reverse operation.
With the tailgate closed you now have a box with walls on 3-sides to trap soil as you drive, allowing much better control to move your soil to your destination.
With the rear blade, as you drive in reverse you now are using it as a dozer to scrape and push soil (you could use it for snow in a pinch).
You also have four scarifier shank you can set to your desired depth (or reverse them up and out of the way) to really rough up soil, or cut through roots. These shanks have hardened, heat-treated chisel tips.
Common box blade uses are:
- Removing top soil
- Fixing pot holes
- Pushing dirt
- Backfilling trenches and holes
Lift the tailgate and lock it into place and you now have a lane plane (some call it a land leveler). With the front, diagonal blade and rear blade you can drive over your gravel to pull material from left-to-right, and create a much more even grade. You can use the directional pull to your advantage to help create a crown (or maintain a crown) if desired.
Land planes are about the easiest tool to use, as you just drop your attachment to the ground and drive. Land planes are our favorite tool for:
- Grading gravel drives
It’s annoying to change out rear attachments, especially ones that are so similar in design. Even when they’re quick hitch compatible, as our VersaBox is.
So we designed a two-in-one combo attachment that does both the job of a box blade and a land plane. All you have to do is raise and lower the tailgate to swap from Box Blade mode into Lane Plane mode. And soon we’ll have the ability to do that right from your seat with a hydraulic lift for the tailgate.
VersaBox Benefits
- Save money buying one tool instead of two*
- Take up less room for storage
- Save time and effort, not having to switch attachments!
*If you shop our site for Box Blades and Land Planes you’ll see the VersaBox is the benefit of two attachments for the cost of one!
