Description
IronCraft Hydraulic Snow Cannon
Snowblowers are often the best tool for clearing snow, if cost is no concern. They are undoubtedly the most expensive option compared to snow pushers and snow plows, but they excel at snow removal because they eliminate the concern of needing a location to deposit your plowed snow all winter long.
When it comes to snow blowers for your tractor there are three installation locations:
- 3-Point (Rear PTO Power)
- Frame Mount (Mid-PTO Power)
- Loader Mount (Hydraulic Power)
This version of the IronCraft Snow Cannon is a loader-mount in Skid-Steer Quick Attach only.
Three Benefits of a Loader-Mounted Snow Blower
- A loader-mounted snow blower allows you to keep your loader on all winter long, unlike a frame-mount
- Great for those who want to keep using other-loader mounted attachments in the winter.
- A loader-mounted snow blower also puts the blower in contact with the snow before your tractor tires have a chance to compact the snow
- A rear facing 3-Point snow blower can do the same, but you have to drive in reverse the entire time you’re blowing snow. Which brings us to the third benefit of the loader-mounted blower
- You can blow snow facing forward, which is obviously the most comfortable position
Requirements for a Hydraulic Snow Blower
Unlike 3-Point or Frame-Mounted snow blowers which are PTO powered, a loader mounted snow blower is powered by hydraulics. This is why the target audience is skid steers, as skid steers have more hydraulic flow than tractors and hydraulics are how skid steer attachments are powered.
The IronCraft Snow Cannon requires 15–25 gpm of hydraulic flow, and most compact tractors will have half of that. But there is a solution for tractor owners to gain the hydraulic flow needed for this IronCraft Snow Cannon as well as for other hydraulic attachments.
The IronCraft PTO Hydraulic Power Pack is a hydraulic pump system that connects to your tractor’s 3-Point hitch and uses the 540 rpm rear PTO to provide either 14 or 21 gpm of hydraulic flow on your tractor. You plumb the hydraulic lines wherever you need them, in this case up to the loader.

Snow Cannon Uses
A snow blower will be good for any type of snowfall—dry or wet. As long as you have the minimum gpm met, you’ll launch your snow where you need it. But, like any snow removal attachment, tackling it as it falls proves much easier than attempting to remove the snow after it’s piled high.
Driveways, parking lots, roads, and even your trails or pathways can be cleared with minimal effort using the IronCraft’s Hydraulic Snow Cannon.
The only thing to be wary of with a blower is clogging the chute, which can happen when snow is extra wet—another reason to not wait until it piles high before getting out there and clearing your driveway.
The ability to remove snow with the blower in front maintaining a comfortable, natural driving position gives you the best experience as you navigate tight spaces and maneuver around obstacles, ensuring efficient snow removal in various areas of your property (think of cars in a drive way, or corners of retaining walls).
With the convenience and efficiency it offers, a snow cannon for your tractor is a smart and cost effective choice (within its category) for effective winter snow management.
